I hope that you and your loved ones are keeping well and staying safe. I wanted to provide you with an update now that the government has announced relaxation of the COVID-19 rules from 19th July.
During the pandemic we have had multiple safety and cleaning procedures in place to protect you and your loved ones during your visit and our team had all the latest PPE and UV sterilisation equipment to help ensure your visit was safe and enjoyable. In the last 15 months of opening, we have not had a single incidence of COVID in our team or through the track and trace reporting systems with our Customers in any of our branches.
What happens after 19th July 2021 when I visit?
As you will have read or seen in the news, COVID cases are rising significantly and we feel that removing all precautions, especially during your examination where we are in close proximity for periods of time, would be unwise. We are therefore following guidelines from other medical professionals with regard to mask wearing as follows;
- Our team will wear face masks at all times whilst you and your loved ones are present.
- We respectfully request that you wear a mask during your eye examination and when we take measurements for your glasses. There is no requirement to wear one at other times (unless you wish to).
- Face masks will be available for you should you require one.
How else are we keeping you safe?
Many of our other procedures will remain in place to protect you and they are in no way intrusive. These include;
- Cleaning down surfaces and rooms between Customers.
- Longer appointment times to limit numbers in the branch and give you more time with our Hearing and Vision Experts.
- UVC sterilisation of frames and equipment and air purification systems in all areas.
- Lateral flow testing for our team twice a week.

Here are some of the changes we've had in place for the last 15 months and they continue to protect you and our team of Vision and Hearing Experts.
A change of layout
Hand gel dispensers installed at every entrance door and you will see signage and floor markings to help you around the building.
We have air purification units throughout the branches that use ionisers, HEPA filters and UVC internal light to purify the air.
Giving you more time
We want to ensure that your experience is relaxed and we want you to have the time to make informed decisions about your eyecare and eyewear. We have therefore extended the time for an eye examinations or spectacle dispensings. This also allows time for our areas to be disinfected effectively before our next patient.
During some tests or examinations, we need to get within the social distancing measurements. We’ve fitted screens to instruments and our team will wear the relevant protective equipment for those tests. Please don’t be scared as these precautions are there to protect you and your family as well as our team.
We've introduced the very latest virucidal cleaning products to help protect you.
Our frames are all cleaned and disinfected at least daily but, before you try any on, we will disinfect the frames you select in a specialist UVC disinfection cabinet (this only takes 2 or 3 minutes). They will also go through the same process before going back on display. We politely request that you do not self-select frames but allow our Vision Experts to help you make the right choices.
Deliveries to your door
If you wish to shield as much as possible, we will deliver your completed spectacles or contact lenses to your home.
During the lockdown all our team have been undertaking online training programmes for a wide variety of topics from the latest eye testing methods and new and better spectacle lenses through to courses on their own health and mental wellbeing. Our team have many months of practice delivering these new safety procedures and are here to look after you and ensure your visit is safe and enjoyable.
And now every member of our team take a COVID test twice a week to ensure they are fit and healthy to look after you.

We are now sending reminders for your due appointments although we are still catching up a bit on the time during lockdown. If you believe you are overdue or haven't received your reminder, please do get in touch.
